Synopsis:
Mila was living with her mother in a small Minnesota town when she discovered she was also living a lie.
She was never meant to learn the truth about her identity. She was never supposed to remember the past.
Now she has no choice but to run—from the dangerous operatives who want her terminated because she knows too much, and from a mysterious group that wants to capture her alive.
Evading her enemies won’t help Mila cope with everything she has had to leave behind. However, what she’s becoming is beyond anyone’s imagination, including her own, and that just might save her life.
Thoughts/Review:
I adore the backdrop of the story… The calming effect of the horses created a stark contrast to Mila’s distress/sense of loss. It made me feel her uneasiness a lot more.
It definitely veers more towards YA than Sci-Fi. Even when it gets decidedly more Science Fiction-y it never loses the YA touch. The difference being that instead of the YA aspect of it being shown in scenes between Mila & her friends it was shown via Mila’s own thoughts… I don’t really know how to explain it… I guess you’ll just have to read the book to see what I mean ;).
This Hunter guy gives me the heebee jeebies… Something about him seems off - I don’t trust him… (*spoiler ahead!!*) I’m pretty certain he’ll betray Mila somehow in the next book.
The last hundred or so pages were nail biting, (or in my case) duvet-grabbingly intense! Debra built up the tension slowly but effectively, leaving the reader breathless not just because of the action but also in anticipation of what will come next.
Show Yahoo that we are OKAY with them buying Tumblr as long as they leave the current terms and conditions intact and the enforcement policy.
Aka, the site remains the EXACT same as it was before. Keep Tumblr the same Yahoo and we will stay.
